1933 - Pioneering Women in Radio

WPR’s history includes many women whose programs were among the most popular at the station. Aline Hazard hosted the Homemaker’s Program from 1933 to 1965.

In addition to tips for homemakers, the program included agricultural reports on Wisconsin’s commodities, live broadcasts from museums and places of historical interest, interviews with academics, music and book reviews.

Hazard was inducted into the Wisconsin Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2016. Watch the tribute video (left) to learn more about her life and career.
