Professor Gordon’s’ music class on the air, brought to us by WHA, was the highlight of our week. His welcoming voice is one of my most vivid memories of those significant elementary learning years. I speak of the mid-1930s at Riverview School, on the banks of the Yahara River near Stoughton, Wisconsin – a one room and one teacher rural school, with up to 40 students enrolled at times. Professor Gordon sang and taught his way into our hearts, enriching us with his love of music and children. I’m happy to be a member of NPR, your continuing vision, and excellent programming.
