1923 - The Game is On
Wisconsin Public Radio broadcast its first “play by play” college basketball games in 1923. Five games were heard during the spring, starting with the UW-Madison v. Michigan home game. According to Randall Davidson’s book, “9XM Talking,” the broadcasts could be heard in more than 34 states, Canada and Puerto Rico.
The station set another first that spring, broadcasting the State High School Basketball Championships as well.
