1968 - Pretty Soon Runs Out

Wisconsin Public Television earns the first national Emmy Award ever presented to a public television station, for our production of City Within a City: Pretty Soon Runs Out, an unapologetic look at the human toll that segregated housing was taking in Milwaukee.

This program was the culmination of nearly a decade of work by WHA’s news and public affairs team telling the stories of the civil rights era here in Wisconsin, ensuring the voices of many marginalized citizens were heard, many for the first time.
