1953 - The Wisconsin Television Laboratory

In 1953, the Wisconsin State Legislature authorized the “Wisconsin Television Laboratory” to “pursue teaching, research and experimentation in television.” The new entity, which would become WHA-TV, was the beginning of today’s Wisconsin Public Television.
